WILD HORSE PRESERVATION LEAGUE

As animal lovers and free spirits, the idea of wild horses with the freedom to run and roam seems pretty idyllic. But it’s not a concept without complications. The Wild Horse Preservation League is doing their best to combat them.

The WHPL is a non-profit organization formed in 2001 dedicated to the protection of these wild horses and committed to educating citizens in the community how to safely coexist without harmfully interfering. They rely on donations to provide veterinary care to injured or ill horses, execute documentation practices that help track the movement and grouping of the horses, and administer carefully monitored birth control to foster healthy reproduction without overpopulation.

Marty Wright, a wild horse photographer and a Director for the WHPL, hosted our visit to the range and explained some of the plights facing these horses, including droughts and the recently expanded Highway 50 which has resulted in an increase of horse-vehicle collisions and a greater need for funds to cover vet bills. After being in the presence of these incredible animals, we felt compelled to contribute, so 20% of the proceeds from Wild Horses-patterned pieces (Wild Horses Dress, Top, and Pant) will be donated back to the WHPL to help further their mission.
