All applicants are accepted, but not all will succeed, and tuition will take far more from you than money. Whether you call it the school of hard knocks or academy of life lessons, Cowpoke U teaches the kind of character that can’t be bought.

This collection is a tongue-in-cheek conceptualization of cowboy mojo and college memorabilia, of imagining a university that offers an education that most of us just came by honestly, with courses like Fence Mending 101, Intro to Horse Saddling, or Steer Wrestling for P.E. credit. Demerits mean you’re on breakfast duty before dawn and perfect attendance earns you a Saturday night at the dancehall. The fashion has a familiar feel, with collegiate classics like a letterman jacket, and embraces the eminent era of ‘prep chic’ with a Western sensibility. The first installment of Fall 2023’s “Plays Well With Others” also features some colorful characters from art class, the one-of-a-kind renderings of Waxahachie-based collaborating artist Bruce Lee Webb.
