STYLE SPOTTING: KALEO

A few years ago, we were introduced to this hip new artist who had an ear for sound and an eye for style.

Jökull Júlíusson, known affectionately as JJ, is the lead singer for KALEO, a Nordic band we were admittedly not yet familiar with but the name made Presley and Walker’s eyes light up when we mentioned it. We were connected to him through his stylist, Audrey Brianne, which resulted in an almost comically fortuitous exchange.

“DDR is a gem of a find via JJ’s visionary,” she said. “We’re constantly researching new brands and swapping info and one of his searches resulted in the most beautiful pair of cheetah print, fringed boots we’d seen. I reached out to the brand and unfortunately the style had sold out before we could get our hands on a pair. A few days later however, I received an email from one of the owners saying they’d be happy to let us actually have their [own] unworn pair, as they ironically ended up being JJ’s exact size. Since that day forward we’ve had a wonderful relationship with the brand. We’ve found ways whilst KALEO is on a global tour to incorporate the more intricate DDR offerings in a way that highlights the craftsmanship and fit of the clothes.”
