LAST LOOK: THE BACKWOODS BARBIE PIECES YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS

Backwoods Barbie has been a really fun collection. It was a little something different for Double D Ranch, we don’t often design in such soft hues, but man, we’re really proud of how it turned out. Plus, it was really powerful for us to channel such nostalgia and to pay homage to the legendary ladies who pioneered the path for female artists in the world of country music. Dolly and Loretta will always be icons in our eyes, and have a special place in our hearts. (And let’s not forget those custom look-alike dolls! I mean, how could we?)

But alas, it’s almost time to turn the corner into summer and premiere our next collection – which we’re super excited about, and you should be, too – so now’s the time to snag those signature Backwoods Barbie pieces you don’t want to miss! Here are a few of the must-haves on our list:

We’ve been in love with this jacket since it first appeared in Midnight Cowboy, and the rose water version of it is just one-of-a-kind gorgeous. The juxtaposition of the soft pink leather against the strong brown goat suede is such a romantic combination and really embodies the femininity and toughness that Backwoods Barbie was intended to convey. It’s definitely a collector’s jacket that you’re going to reach for spring after spring.

    All Things Tennesee Walker:

They may be camouflage, but the Tennesse Walker pieces do anything but blend in! We colored outside the lines with these garments, bringing you camo in unexpected hues, or inverting the pattern in tees to make it a little more subtle, and embellishing it with all sorts of images. It really played to the Backwoods side of the collection, with hints of the glamour that was to come. It’s an uncommon concept that you’re unlikely to see again soon, so if you can see yourself rocking this colorful camouflage, time to “add to cart”!

If there is a piece that is going to forever be remembered and associated with the Backwoods Barbie collection, we’d have to say it’s going to be this one. It is so symbolic of the collection, with its muted hues and prairie print and that unique floor-sweeping silhouette that was Loretta Lynn’s signature style. And get this: THE Loretta Lynn actually owns this dress and loves it! Her daughter-in-law reached out to tell us how much Loretta loved the collection and the catalog -- talk about a pinch-me moment! It’s such a pretty dress, so flattering, and it’s Backwoods Barbie through and through, so you’d better get it now before we turn the page on this collection!

    Chickasaw Basket Pattern Pieces:

We don’t even have to tell you that these are some of our favorite pieces – you’ve seen every McMullen sister in either the shirt or the dress (or both) at some point over the last month or two. (The Chickasaw garments were some of the first we snagged out of the showroom when Backwoods Barbie came in – they were on our must-have list from day one!) If you don’t have yours yet, we don’t know what you’re waiting on. The workshirt is one of those pearl snaps that’s long-sleeved, but lightweight so you can wear it year round – and it’s also versatile, wear it open over a tank, tie it up with cutoffs, tuck it into dark denim jeans, the list goes on! And that shirt-dress is so soft, so comfortable, and designed to fit and flatter every body. We promise, once you get Chickasaw in your closet, you’re going to be reaching for it all summer long!

    Backwood Barbie Top & Bottom:

Uncommon beauty and unexpected colors was kind of the name of the game with this collection, and it resulted in some of the most striking pieces we’ve ever designed. (We don’t think anyone will forget the story of Jack telling Cheryl that baby blue leather wasn’t going to work, and her doubling down... And being right.) The Backwoods Barbie Boot – especially in blue, but we also love it in black! – will always be one of the first things that comes to mind when someone mentions Backwoods Barbie. They’re such a statement, standout boot that you’re just not going to see anywhere else. Same with the Backwoods Barbie Hat, actually. We put a giant flower on the side of a cowboy hat. If that’s not an example of uncommon beauty, we don’t know what is. And it almost didn’t happen, but now we can’t imagine the collection without it. If we really had to narrow it down to the signature pieces of Backwoods Barbie, these would be it. You’re just not going to find them in any other collection, so if you love the look as much as we do, this is the time to get it before it’s gone.
