Mark your calendars, gals – Cynthia is right around the corner!
“All of the characters who inspired Cowgirls Closets – fictional or historical – are women I admired or adored for very different reasons,” Cheryl explained. “Cynthia Ann Parker is one that I deeply revere. As a child of Texas, I learned her story pretty early on in my life and it never left me. She was more than a survivor; she was a heroine of her own story. As a mother now, it resonates even more strongly; she was endlessly devoted to her children. In paying homage to her, I didn’t try to literally reimagine what was in her closet as much as channel her spirit of strength and optimism and appreciate what she appreciated within the culture she adopted.”
