A CUT ABOVE: THE COYOTE WEED DRESS

Velvet dresses have been part of the DDR DNA from the very beginning. Somehow, for more than three decades now, we seem to keep reinventing them in unprecedented ways. This season, we might’ve really broken the mold with the elegant-yet-edgy and oh-so-alluring Coyote Weed Dress.

“It’s a new silhouette for us,” said Cheryl. “It’s a V-neck maxi, and it’s technically sleeveless, but it has an important element in that ruffle at the shoulder that really balances it – in a couple different ways, actually – it balances it with the flowy tiers of the skirt, and it provides a demure femininity that balances the slightly edgy cutouts on the side.”

Plus, it’s that luxurious velvet you’ve come to love and expect from DDR. It instantly found a fan in our own family, that’s for sure!

“This dress is a MUST!” gushed Presley Carter, one of our fabulous Fort Worth Sales associates and the darling daughter of one Hedy Carter, who styled it with the Sonora Jacket and Mummy’s Bundle necklace for a fun photoshoot.

Of course, we’re pretty partial, and we do think it would be hard to find someone who rocks it better than our own sweet Presley, but here’s the deal: you don’t have to be a twig in your twenties to pull it off.

“Don’t knock it until you try it on,” urges Cheryl. “Seriously, you will surprise yourself – in a good way. I’ll be the first to say this dress lacks hanger appeal, I wish I could design a hanger that would do it justice, but you really do have to just put it on. Try it on and see where and how the cut hits you; at the end of the day, it may still not be for everyone, but I think a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised.”
