  • Our friends, at Pony Creek Ranch

Where in Texas can you find 22 species of rescued African and Asian mammals frolicking with indigenous animals, on 1000 acres of fence-free land? . . Pony Creek Ranch is where! . For Double D Ranch's Fall 2012 "Call of the Wild" Collection Photo Shoot, we were welcomed to the ranch by the Berry Family, with open arms, homemade breakfast foods, and lots of smiles. Jim and Carolyn were so gracious and hospitable, we didn't want to leave even after 2 days of exhaustive shooting! ..

Pony Creek Ranch is home to beautiful exotic animals that are hand-fed and cared for daily.  There is even a spoilt, little deer herd that Sweet Carolyn feeds up at the Big House just like part of the family.  Several times while shooting we were pleasantly interrupted by a pampered doe sniffing at our camera lens or itching for one of our crew to give her some petting love. Jim and Carolyn take great pride in their rescued animals and you can bet they are doing something right since they have the honor of being endorsed by zookeeper emeritus,  Jack Hanna. . Baby and our photographer . . . We shot mostly in empty fields (or sometimes NOT SO empty fields!) but you'll see in our "Call of the Wild" catalog, some shots in quaint log cabins. Carolyn and Jim have restored a dozen of these old cabins for ranch guests and special events. Please go over and check out their website or shoot Carolyn an email with any questions about visiting or planning a beautiful Pony Creek event. ([email protected]) and be sure to tell her we say "howdy!" .
