  • Rememories: 20 Years Ago This Week

    March 22, 2010 1 min read 16 Comments

Last week I was crazy busy and freaking out over the fall photo shoot (pictures to come) and now this week is more of the same  - slamming last minute details together for Dallas market.   I got to thinking about what we were doing 20 years ago this week and it was surprisingly pretty much the same ... albeit a different scale, but with the same intensity and same stress levels.

    .

We did our first "photo shoot" in Mom and Dad's back pasture with Audrey modeling and Pat Mercer photographing.  I'm sure I was being bossy and over-bearing telling Audrey how to pose and telling Pat how to snap the picture.  Regardless we ended up with the following shots and used these as part of our first marketing campaign.   We also gave an off-the-cuff name to our "brand" just in time to get our labels woven and sewn into our samples. . Reminisce with me as I take a look back at our initial efforts of photography and branding... Wow. Lot different now. Now you have grunts to do the dirty work. These grunts end up sick because of the working conditions lol

I’ll be looking at my DDR Collection when I get home, this label looks so familiar, I’m sure it’s in the very first jacket I purchased. How fun! Thanks for reminding us of your brand’s history because it is our history too!

Now that’s a classic label…do you have many of those still lying around? How many different labels have evolved through the years? Your “off the cuff” brand name definitely stuck and Double D has come a long way!

Jack, sweet darling, you are hardly a grunt. I don’t think you overworked yourself last week and besides you need to pitch in and learn what it is all about. Thank you for helping ‘lift and heave’ at the shoot and thank you for reading your mom’s blog! I love you!

Bobbi, let me know if you have any of these hanging in your closet. I’d love to hear!

Jessica, I would be hard pressed to find one of those original labels – I don’t think we have any laying around. As far as the evolution of the label that would be a great blog post so I’ll have to go back and do some research. I know what the labels are, but am not sure about the coordinating dates.
Howse the culture clash cooking going?

I’m sure we have at least a sleeve or two of the original labels. I’ll dig around.

Jack, 20 years ago we were alot younger with a ton more energy so we were able to do the grunt work too! Thanks a bunch for helping.

Can’t believe how much the photos of Audrey remind me of the way you looked in college Cheryl!! Since I haven’t seen you in 3 million years, you probably look just the same.

OH, I WISH! I was just talking about getting on “Biggest Loser” – I hate we couldn’t work out something for this week at market. Next time for sure. Miss you bunches!
