His hand-made saddles, gear and apparel have been used in the costumes and props of many Hollywood productions. He was a prolific craftsman who created thousands of pieces over the course of his career as a western artist. A veteran of the US Army, Max served his country during the vietnam war from 1967 through 1969. In addition, Max was a Former Pro Rodeo Cowboy and Motorcycle Enthusiast.
