    The Real Deal

There are things in life that will knock you off your feet. Believe me, as a child of a single mother growing up in the 70's – 'life' wasn't easy. Especially for Mom. Perhaps that's why I'm drawn to strong, resilient women.

Back then, outlaw country music was everywhere. You couldn't turn on the FM radio without hearing artists like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, and Merle Haggard. But then there was Tanya Tucker with her powerful alto voice, gut-punching lyrics, and rebellious reputation. Tanya personified the image of a tough and incredibly cool, Western woman.

A true country music outlaw, Tucker lived a life that many could relate to. And maybe that's why she is so loved and admired today within our Facebook group. Then again, it may be her legendary hits like 'Delta Dawn,' 'What's Your Mama's Name,' 'Love Me Like You Used To' or 'The Wheels Of Laredo' on her new album – 'While I'm Livin'; that continues to stir our souls.

Like many of you, I've followed Tanya's career and life through the pages of magazines, TV specials, and CMA Shows. And although we've never met, I've always thought, "Man, Tucker is the real deal. What you see is what you get." Lucky for me and for all of us, that assumption was confirmed last week thanks to everyone at Double D Ranch and their heartfelt testimonials. There is no doubt, Tanya is definitely one of the pack.

Most days, I'm sitting behind my desk thinking about business. About what makes some people or companies stand apart from others. What is it about them or their lives, products, or services that are so special? In the case of Tanya Tucker and DDR, it's three things really; unrivaled talent, genuine authenticity, and their loyal brand ambassadors.

In my eyes, this is the magic formula that defines them. Who knows, maybe someday these amazing women will join forces and really knock me off my feet. One can only hope.
