If you didn’t already know this about her, Cheryl always has her hands in a million different things, and she’s particularly fond of projects that involve giving back, getting civically engaged, and/or bonus points if it means encouraging creative young minds to pursue their passion. Well, right now, we have the opportunity to bring all those elements together – and we want you to be a part of it with us!

One of our dear customers and longtime friend of DDR, Melissa Schulman, works with the Young Men’s Leadership Academy in Ft. Worth. A few months back, a conversation arose between Cheryl and Melissa which sparked a unique and interesting endeavor to ignite these boys’ interest in art and Western culture, as well as facilitate flexing their creative and artistic skills. We proposed an art contest in which Cheryl would provide her “footprint” (color palette, motif, and inspiration board) for an upcoming collection, and Melissa’s students could submit their artwork to be considered for becoming part of a Double D Ranch design or print.

Much to everyone’s delight, several of these darling and determined young men took to the challenge and really invested in it, researching the culture and putting tremendous thought and effort into their submissions.

One young talented man by the name of Angel Carrasco had his colored pencil creation, “Ripped Memories”, selected as the winner and will be featured as part of a scarf and jacket design in one of 2024’s collections. (So keep an eye out!)

But, because we were so impressed by the earnest efforts and creativity these gentlemen poured into the project, we’ve decided to auction off the runners up. That’s where you come in!

Today through next Saturday evening, we will be auctioning off five fabulous pieces of original art in the Double D Addiction Facebook group. It will be silent auction style, you simply comment on the photo to bid for that piece, each bid must be an increase of the bid before it. At the end of the bidding window, the highest bidder will be invoiced for their prized piece. (It is up to the buyer whether they actually want the art shipped to them or if they would like to bid symbolically as a donation.)

The money raised by the silent auction will be giving to the respective artists, in addition to their portion of a $1,000 award that has already been generously anonymously donated. Cheryl and Melissa will present all of this at an awards ceremony on May 9th.

Ok, guys and gals – ready, set, silent bid!
